Are There Any HCG Side Effects?

HCG Side Effects

Learn The Safer Way To Do The Diet

When asked about the HCG diet I almost always get asked if there are any HCG side effects or dangers involved.

I think people ask me this question because they think the diet is “too good to be true”.

And while I can see why they would think that it might be too good to be true when they first here about it, once they actually start the diet they realize that the results of losing 1+ pounds per day are well deserved by following the strict diet.

But let’s talk about any possible dangers or side effects.

The first thing you have to look at is what form of the HCG diet are you doing? Are you doing the injections or an oral HCG alternative?

Which method you choose will greatly affect the chances for any side effects while on the diet.

So the original diet was done with HCG injections. The injections still work to this day and they are a viable means of completing the diet. But they aren’t the safest and I never recommend them for someone looking to start the protocol.

The HCG injections can cause some side effects like blood clots. It’s not from the HCG itself but from the method of injecting it. So I avoid the injections altogether and I prefer the oral HCG Diet Accelerator.

The oral product allows you to avoid any side effects of HCG while still getting the same results of the injections. I think this makes it safer as your not taking a high dosage of HCG and you aren’t injecting it straight into your body.

You simply take the oral HCG Diet Accelerator capsules by mouth by swallowing them. It’s extremely simple and takes just a few seconds to do. The nice part is that it’s just as effective as the injections but far safer.

The only side effects I see when doing the diet correctly while on the oral HCG Diet Accelerator are headaches for the first couple days and leg cramps.

Both of these effects are from the low calorie diet and your body detoxing and can be fixed easily.

First, for the headache that’s just your body detoxing from all the bad food that you have been eating before the diet. It is leaving your body because you are drinking so much water and your body is feeding off of your stored fat which has these bad chemicals stored in your body. But don’t worry, it only last a day or two and you can take a headache medication to help with any discomfort.

Now onto the leg cramps. Leg cramps are common while on the diet and that’s from a lack of potassium. You can’t eat bananas while on the diet so in order to fix this you take a simple potassium supplement and that always solves the problem. The supplement can be purchased at just about any grocery store or health food store for under $10.

Now there’s one more danger with the diet that I have to bring up. There are many people online selling what they call are “HCG drops” but really they are nothing more than water and alcohol. So avoid those scammers selling cheap HCG products.

The HCG product you get should be about $80+ per 1 bottle. Any cheaper and you should be very careful because HCG is not a cheap substance. 1 bottle will last you for about 15 days so it’s not very expensive since the diet is for a few short weeks anyway, but do avoid the cheap kind.

And so I don’t have to answer 50 emails a day about who I recommend I’ll just recommend them now. I always use this company to get my oral product for the diet: HCG Diet

They have the best support I’ve seen and I’ve heard it’s the largest private support group for the diet in the whole world.

They are very knowledgeable and have helped me lose a lot of weight. You can use who you want but that’s who I recommend.

So that’s pretty much it. If you have any questions or comments please leave on the site. I’d love to hear from you.

I’ve been searching all over for good information about hcg side effects. thanks so much for the info, it helped me get started. I did have a slight headache the first day on the low calorie diet but just like you said it went away. I’ve lost 13 pounds and I’m only on week 2!

Great job Cyrstal! And your welcome. I started the blog to help people have the same success I had. You are doing absolutely wonderful so keep going until you reach your goal!

I did my first round with injections but I really am not a fan of needles. I did drops the second round and I’ve like them better. They also are a lot easier to get. Thank you for the post, it helped me figure out what to do. Can I ask you questions as I go along with the diet??

Reply

Deborah

I’m glad you like my site Sherry. And yes, you can always ask me questions. That’s why I started this little blog : )

The only side effect I had was a mild leg cramp. After reading this I know it was because of a lack of potassium. No big deal but on my next round I’ll make sure to have a potassium supplement. It might be in my multivitamin. Do you suggest taking a multivitamin during the diet?

Reply

Deborah

I think a multivitamin can be beneficial but it’s not required. Just check your label and make sure there isn’t anything in it like sugar. I would avoid drinking any type of vitamins and stick with tablets. But for most people all you need is the HCG and you’ll do just fine.

if i take meds. can i still do the hcg drops, and is it safe to take prenatal plus with the drops. im not pregnant its just what my doctor recommends.

Reply

Deborah

You should stay on any medication unless your doctor takes you off of them. And yes, you can take prenatal vitamins just fine.

Hi, I am a diebetic and I would like to know if there is something I should know before I start this program. I am on medication for diebetes and also a low dosage of high blood pressure pill.

Reply

Deborah

You will need to monitor your levels closely and just watch as you change through the diet. Many people report lowering their diabetes medication and blood pressure medication after going through their first round. Of course don’t do that yourself, have a doctor check that for you. If you do the diet correctly it can really improve your health more than just the weight loss. So monitor yourself and know what you are doing.

Hi my friend did this and she looks absolutely awesome lost 30 pounds with one bottle of drops I have really bad Fibromyalgia and my weight is over 250 I’m on certain medication for this and the pain is it safe to take HCG with these they are Percocet, Clonazapam for my anxiety and Furosemide for my swelling I really want to do this but going to the doctor I’m sure he will not have heard of this I hope I can do this diet or I feel I will continue to go downhill with my weight, and thanks for having a blog.

Reply

Deborah

Hi Phyllis. Of course always ask your doc about your meds. And you are right, he probably hasn’t heard of the diet. But do an oral solution and don’t mess with the injections unless you are medically supervised. I know one lady who also has Fibromyalgia and she did great on the diet. In fact it helped a lot. She also said cutting out sugar has really helped. Best of luck!

Reply

Shelly

Interestingly, Clonazepam can cause Fibromyalgia-like symptoms. I recommend taking something else for anxiety!

Hey,
I’ve been wondering about this diet for a while but my question to you is besides the obvious side effects like headaches n leg cramps are their other side effects like hallucinations I’m just wondering because that’s just one of the rumors I heard and I suffer with bipolar and currently taking Prozac n lithium so I can’t afford to take a hallucignic type drip please advice.

Reply

Deborah

Nope, hallucinations are definitely NOT a side effect. So that rumor is just that, a rumor. You will hear a lot of rumors out there but they aren’t true.

Hi, I am just about to begin the drops and I heard about taking vitamin b12 with it? Is it necessary or just the multi-vitamins?

Reply

Deborah

You don’t need the B12 but you can take it if you’d like. You don’t even need a multi-vitamin but of course you can take it if you already do. All you need is the HCG and instructions and help to get you through it.

I’d like to start this diet but a little scared. Does this make your heart race?

Reply

Deborah

Hello Donna. It does not make your heart race at all because it’s not a stimulant like a lot of other diet products. This works differently and makes it safe to use. So no heart races or anything like that.

Reply

Heidi

It’s the B-12 that makes your heart race, it usually is accompanied by Niacin, so you get the flushed skin and heart beat. If you can get just straight b-12 you won’t have that side effect. And the reason for the B-12 in the first place is for any lack in energy- however since your body is consuming more calories than usual, you shouldn’t need it.

Reply

Deborah

Not sure if that’s true, but what I use has no B12 in it at all. B12 simply isn’t needed as you stated.

Reply

Lisa

The only side effect from my hcg diet so far has been the occasional leg cramp and thanks to you I took the potassium and it solved it immediately. Thank you for that tip! The diet has been a lot easier than I thought it would be and I don’t see what all the fuss is about from the critics. It really isn’t that hard and the results have been so amazing. I have tried just about every other diet and this is by far my favorite because of the quick results. Thanks again for your help and support.

Potassium is a great help sometimes isn’t it?! So happy you are doing good and you are happy about your results. Please let me know if I can help in any way.

hi! just kind of researching this whole thing….all i can really find about the diet is that it’s no sugars or starches? does that mean it’s atkins-like , or high protein, or what? are you allowed alcohol at all? it’s finally summer! thank you!!!!

Reply

Deborah

Hi Lisa. The no sarches and sugar thing is for the maintenance phase only. The actual diet consists of meats, veggies, fruits, and even carbs. You simply choose food from a list and weigh it out. It’s really easy. The food is normal food you probably already have and you get at any grocery store. The results are quick and amazing. Just work with a company that gives you good coaching and help so you will have all the information and help you need. Good luck Lisa!

Debbie

Thanks for the information …Just want to confirm if its necessary to take B12 injection with the drops or the drops alone is effective ….???

Reply

Deborah

Hi Debbie. You don’t need any B12. I notice a lot of places sell it and try to get you to buy it but that’s just so they make some extra money. You really don’t need it at all. If you get a good oral product that’s all that you’ll need. Of course instructions and coaching help a great deal so make sure who you are working with offer that as well.

My husband want to do this program with me. How do men do on this product and should they even take hcg? Thanks for your input. Going to give this a try. Diana

Reply

Deborah

Hi Diana. Men do incredible on this diet! In fact they lose a lot quicker than women so if you do it together make sure not to compare results and get discouraged if you don’t lose as quickly. Men have an advantage. And yes, men can take HCG. I recommend a good oral product over injections as it’s safe to use and the HCG dosage is lower. So yes, men can do the diet and if they do it correctly they will do amazing. Make sure to work with a provider who has good coaching and instruction so you know how to do it properly. Please come back after and post your results.

I’ve read online that Dr. simeon recommends doing a 30-40 day round then taking 8 weeks off before starting the next round. This is because he feels your body builds up a tollerence to the HCG after 40+days. My Dr. (who is brand new to administering the diet and is on it herself) Says to stay on for the duration I need to lose the 65 lbs
W/o taking time off in between. She says she has had some patients on for 90 consecutive days. What are your thoughts?

Reply

Deborah

I wouldn’t recommend that at all from my experience. It’s up to you but I always stay true to the original protocol. You need to be doing the maintenance phase to set those weight points. Plus it’s hard to go that many days in a row. So in my opinion I wouldn’t go beyond 40 as originally suggested.

I have not seen problems from a good oral product but always consult your doctor. But I haven’t seen problems from people with the same issues.

Reply

Deborah

Always consult your health care provider. But lots of people with the same issues do the diet just fine. The first couple days you are detoxing so you can get a headache, but that goes away quickly and you can take any headache medicine that you need. Follow the directions and contact your HCG provider for any help you may need.

Hi
Does hcg diet have any effects on future pregnancies????Are there any genetic side effects
I can put up with headaches and muscle cramps, just want to make sure if there are any long term effects
Your answers seem really helpful
saba

Reply

Deborah

Hi Saba. No effect on future pregnancies. HCG is given to women who have a hard time conceiving so it won’t negatively effect you. Plus losing weight also help you get pregnant, so the healthier you are the better. No other side effects as long as you get a good product and do the diet the right way. Good luck Saba!

What are the dangers with the shots?

Reply

Deborah

There is a potential of blood clots because of the method of injections, not because it’s HCG. So I always recommend an oral form because they don’t have that side effect. But it is up to you to choose which method is for you. Both methods work great as long as you follow the diet.

Will this diet work on people who have hypothyroidism and are taking meds for it?

Hi, I have been on the diet 15 days now and have lost a lb. a day. i am on my first round and only 7 days to go. I have suddenly developed a skin rash on my face and find it to be itchy. Is this a side effect and if so, any suggestions in what I can do? Someone said on their blog that is the body detoxifying itself.

Reply

Deborah

Yes, you can get a short term rash and it usually is the body detoxing. Those bad things are coming out at once and that can cause a small rash. But it should go away in a day or two and it’s extremely rare. So I wouldn’t worry. Great job on the pound a day!

Does HCG have any effect on birth control, whether it is oral or an IUD? I would hate for an “oopsie” to occur while I’m on the diet.

I know the oral product I used does not effect birth control at all. If you are doing injection though be careful and ask who you got them from what they know.

I know some people do spot during the diet. It’s just from the change in your diet and it’s normal. It’s not your period, just spotting.

Reply

I’m very interested in trying the HCG drops, is it necessary to use the colon cleanser as well?

No need for any colon cleanser. In fact don’t trust any site that recommends them both because they are just trying to get you to buy more stuff. Use a reputable place that actually wants to help you lose weight.

can this diet cause constipation? If so what would you recommend taking as this is a problem for me?

Reply

Deborah

Kinda. You are eating far less, so you will go far less. Having one bowel movement per week is normal. Less in, less out. But if you are constipated there are many solutions. I wouldn’t worry about it.

Reply

Falon

There’s a tea you can get at any grocery store called smooth move tea it comes in different flavors. It’s a subtle way of getting your bowls moving and tea is good while on the diet.

Reply

Deborah

Yup, that’s what I use and recommend as well. Just make sure you are actually constipated before using it and you aren’t using it just because you haven’t gone in awhile.

I know young people who do the diet successfully but do ask his primary care giver if it’s all right. If they and you both feel it’s right, and he’s mature enough to do the diet
(very important) then you can make that decision. Do the diet first and see if it’s something he can do.

hi I’m wondering how this program works for vegans. i have no meat, fish, eggs, cheese or dairy products in my diet.

Reply

Deborah

I know the folks I worked with had a vegan solution for the HCG diet. Ask them about what changes to make so you can do the diet. So you can do the diet, just need to make a couple changes to the protein section of your meal.

Reply

Aeryn

I’m currently on this program and I’ve been vegan for almost 2 years. I know if I can just get the weight off I can maintain it because I don’t “gain” weight on my normal diet. But getting it off has been hard. I’m only on day 5 of the diet (seven with the two splurge days) and I’ve lost over 5 pounds. Everything I’ve read said vegans may lose weight slower than the traditional diet, so I’m good with that as long as it comes off ;). But, my protein choices this week have been baked tofu (which is fantastic and HCG diet approved, just Braggs’ and Stevia) and black beans and brown rice. This weekend though I’m hoping to find a seitan recipe that will work and taste good. Seitan has 90 calories, 18 grams of protein and only 3 grams of carbs so I think it’ll be perfect.

Deborah

Great job Aeryn! You are doing fantastic. Keep going till you hit that goal :)

Well the diet is not a hormone replacement but still talk with your doctor. Use an oral product where the HCG is a much lower dose. But talk with your health care practitioner first.

I’ve been on the diet for 2 weeks, and happy with my results, but got a little freaked when ketones showed up in my urine. My doc and I upped my calories a bit, but I think I smelled ketones off and on during the previous week. Any chance I messed up and set myself to “starvation” mode?

Reply

Deborah

Ketones showing up are good because that shows that you are breaking down fat and you are getting rid of it. So are you confused about this and think it’s something else? But ketones are great to see. Shows that you are losing the fat and not muscle.

Reply

In my opinion go ANYWHERE else other than walmart. You need a good product, good coaching, and full instructions. None of which can be found at Walmart. Sorry to be harsh but when someone fails I always ask what they bought, and usually it came from Walmart. Don’t buy a serious product like this a Walmart. You deserve better.

I have just decided to do the HCG injections because my doctor told me it is 30% more effective. I am 47 and had a complete hysterectomy in October, so i am on estradiol and projesterone for endremetriosis. I am 218 pound, 5’4″ and have not been able to lose weight. After reading up on HCG I am a little nervous, but am going to proceed with the injections for the first 3 weeks. After reading your notes, I will most likely may switch to the drops. I just want to see results.

Reply

Wow, your doctor pretty much just lied to you, or he is confused. 30% more effective? Well I guarantee you he is saying that because he is prescribing it. The drops work just as well. I don’t care what method you use, use which one you prefer, but they both work just as well. You just have to find out what works for you. And just follow the instructions and you’ll do fine.

Now that by boys are 3 and 18mo and I am no longer nursing my youngest, I am wanting to try supplement and this sounds great. I go to the gym 5-6 days a week and I have lost some and have toned up but still would like to loose 35lbs…and need some help. My mom says you are not allowed to work out…is that true and why ? Working out is my therapy and my time to myslef since I do not live close to family and I am a stay at home mom , so it is much stress relief for me…LOL. so please help me understand.

You can workout but you don’t want to overdo it. Because you are on a low calorie diet and you don’t want to burn through all those calories, throwing your body into starvation mode. It will stall your weight loss and make you really hungry. You can walk/light job about a mile per day. if you want to do more you can but you have to get help in changing the diet a bit. Talk with who you are working with and they can help if they know what they are doing. The people I used do know how to help with that. Not sure who you are using though. So no worries, there is a solution for everything.

can you take this while nursing?

You can but you shouldn’t be on a low calorie diet so there is no use in taking it when you can’t do the diet plan with it. So wait until you are done nursing before doing any diet.

I started taking the drops 3 days ago and have lost 5 lbs! My boyfriend was concerned with the different side effects he’s heard about with this diet. He said that hair loss and teeth decay can occur with the drops. Is this really possible?

Reply

Deborah

Great job on the 5 pounds. And ignore rumors that you hear. It’s like a game of telephone. One person says one thing, then it travels along and by the time it reaches you it will be totally different. No, tooth decay is not a side effect. And hair loss can be possible on a low calorie diet, but it’s not from the drops, it’s extremely rare (like less than 1%), and once you get back to a higher calorie diet it will reverse. So no worries. You are doing great.

Reply

Cheryl

I was just wondering what the HCG injections/drops have to do with the weightloss? If I just restrict my calorie intake to what they have you do on this diet wouldn’t that do the same thing? Is it really the drops or is it the restricted diet that has you losing weight? Just a question :)

Reply

Deborah

I’m so glad you asked that! So yes, the diet does the work of the weight loss, but you must combine it with the HCG. It’s too low in calories and you’ll be too hungry and also you’ll be burning your lean muscle, which isn’t good. People take HCG because it helps with the hunger and also targets your fat storage. So you burn your stored fat, getting those nutrients out of it also. And you also stay less hungry because of the HCG. So that’s why you combine them and must do both at once.

My Husband has ordered the shots, he has 2 friends that had great results with this diet. They also took the shots and seem to be just fine. Is there any need for my husband to go to the doctors before hand? Also, I am so nervous and doubtful about this whole diet. Im constantly reading positive and a whole lot of negative reviews about the product. What should I expect when he starts? and are there any side effects in the man area? Someone told me there are serious issues that can develop. Seeing there no long term studies done, or is there?

Thanks for you help!!

Reply

Deborah

The shots work just fine. It’s just a higher dosage and I prefer a good oral method. But if you want to use injections that’s your choice. So he didn’t go to a doctor yet? That means you ordered from a foreign pharmacy, another reason why I like the oral solution better. Anyway, it never hurts to get a checkup. If nothing else to see where he’s at and compare it to after the diet. And don’t worry, if you do the diet as directed you’ll be fine. There are a lot of negative people out there trying to sell you on their own product so they say anything they can! Look around, the diet works, if not you wouldn’t see so much about it. And no, men don’t see any side effects. In fact men lose MUCH faster than women, so don’t compare yourself to him during the diet. He will lose quicker, just the way it goes I’m afraid. And the diet has been around for over 50 years, so if there was anything bad it would have came out decades ago. Good luck to both of you. Please come back and let me know how it went.

I want to know what happens after the weight loss and maintaining it. Are you forever committed to a low carb diet and reduced calories? How successful are people at keeping their weight off 6 months later?

Reply

Deborah

You do a maintenance phase for 3 weeks after the diet. This will “set” your weight point and make sure you have the best chances to stick there. Of course if you go back to your old ways you’ll get your old results again. That’s true with any diet plan. But you can still eat all sorts of yummy things, you just learn how to do it properly on the diet. So you can still eat everything, you just do it a little differently.

Hi:
I’ve just discovered all this info on HCG, there are good reviews and there are not so good, however I found all the info you write here very useful. I was wondering if the rumors regarding that you can’t use some kinds of makeup are true, I’ve heard you are only allowed to use the ones that are made of minerals but I’m not quite sure if that’s true.
Also, do you think is necessary to go to a doctor before starting the diet? I know that I don’t suffer from any medical condition since all my health check up came just fine but have been struggling with my weight for quite some time and nothing I’ve tried seems to work.
I’m a little scared but excited at the same time to give this a try, there are so many things that I’ve been missing just because I simply don’t want people to see me overweight. Last time I took a picture of myself was about 7 years ago and frankly I think is about time I’ll put an end to that.
Hope you answer my question and give me some insights on what to expect.
Thanks.

Hi Johanna. I know how you feel. If you are missing out on things in life, it’s time to make a change. Life is short, make it the best you can. And most people don’t talk to a doctor before starting and I have never seen anything to be alarmed about, despite any rumors. If you are healthy and use a good product you should be fine. You can talk to your doctor though if you are worried. Just get good support and coaching so if you do need help you have it. And you can use mineral makeup, oily makeup should be avoided during the low calorie portion of the diet. You can do this. Get you to a place where you are happy with yourself and your life will open up. Good luck!!!

Hi
I am about to use the HCG but after two weeks do I just stop it or what?

Reply

Deborah

Hi Sherry. No, you need to be following the HCG diet plan. Do loading, then the low calorie diet, then 3 days of the diet without HCG, then maintenance phase. Please get help by working with a good provider that has coaching. It’s not quite as simple as taking HCG, you need to follow the plan.

That is the site I recommend. Read their guide, learn about the diet, then you can purchase from them if you choose.

I would like to thank you for your website because it is very informative. I have now been using the HCG drops for 9 days and have lost 20.4 lbs. And I know its probably because how much stored fat I have. But 20.4 down and 139.6 left. Again, thanks for the site and reading other peoples questions has answered all of mine. God Bless!

So I am on day 2 of this diet! My mom is 100 lb overweight and wants to ge on it too. She is 70 and has one kidney. She had one removed because of kidney cancer. She is cancer free and healthy. My question is, have you , or anyone seen any research showing that HCG is hard on your kidneys in any way??? Thanks!

Reply

Deborah

Hi Lisa. I have not seen any evidence to suggest it would be hard on your kidneys, nor would I see a reason. The food you are eating is extremely healthy and good food. I see people’s overall health improve as a results of losing weight. Ask her physician about it though. But I haven’t personally seen any issues.

I’m on week two of the HCG – and the weight is coming off – but i have to know – after 40 days what do i do? Am i still eating all the same foods for one full week? and then when i start HCG again do i do the two day gorge again?

Reply

Deborah

You need to do the maintenance phase for 3 weeks. Did your provider not give you instructions on that? They should so go ask them. It’s a VERY important phase so do it correctly. And yes, at the start of any round you do 2 loading days.

Hello,
My co workers and i want to try this diet is it safe if you have had any types of cancer? They no longer have cancer, but still want to lose wieght.

Reply

Deborah

The product I use does NOT cause cancer. If it did no one would use it, especially me. I have no idea about other products though. And I have never seen any issues with cancer and the HCG diet. Always ask your physician though. You want to make sure they are healthy enough for a low calorie diet.

How long have you been taking the drops? Have you stopped? If so, have you gained your weight back or what have you done to keep it off? Also since this is what women are usually given to get pregnant..whould this effect birth control? Sorry for all the questions…i just don’t want to loose the weight and gain it right back. I will continue my exercise routines…and hope it shouldn’t all come back??

Reply

Deborah

No weight gained back. The diet teaches you how to eat and how to do everything in moderation. Once you do the maintenance phase you’ll see what food works for you and what doesn’t. You can still have good things, just in moderation. The maintenance phase is very important so take it as seriously as the main diet. There’s no point in losing it if you let it come back. But it’s not hard to keep it off if you do the diet right and stay aware of what you are doing.

There is a rumor that injections increase your chances of blood clots. Not sure if I buy this and I have never seen it, but just to be safe I always used an oral product.

I’ve been on the HCG for one week and have lost 8 lbs..so im really happy about that 😉 however, my bday is coming up and i really want to be able to go out with friends and have a few drinks. Do you suggest a certain type of drink I could have with this diet? Thx!

Reply

Deborah

Well it will be a cheat, and you will suffer consequences. You will either gain and then stall, or maybe just stall. Depends on what you do. Can you delay the celebration? If you can’t try cheating just a little. You don’t need food or drinks to celebrate and to have a good time. Just go do something fun. But if you do go out and cheat, just remember it’s not the end of the world. Just realize that you will gain and then probably stall. So just think about what it is worth to you. Great job on the 8 pounds! You are doing very well.

Is there any reason the diet will work differently or not at all after a hysterctomy? I have 1 ovary intact still.

You might lose a little bit slower, but the diet will still work just fine. So no worries, you can do it.

I tend to have low blood pressure and a few years ago I fainted a couple of times during the year in 2008 and was told it was vasel bagel syncope (not sure on the spelling) so I was wondering if this diet would be ok… I’ll be doing the drops

Reply

Deborah

You’d want to talk to a doc about this. I wouldn’t think it would be an issue but just to make sure. What happens if you eat less? If you are fine then no issue probably. The HCG won’t have any effect on it, just wondering if you have certain diet requirements.

Reply

Kd

It is called vaso-vagal syncope usually related to dehydration &/or low salt intake!

Reply

Deborah

If that is indeed true then make sure you drink the water that’s required on the plan. Water is so important.

Reply

Victoria

Can you take HCG drops if you have high blood pressure.., or even a heart murmur.

Reply

Deborah

Ask your doc. I wouldn’t be worried about the high blood pressure but not sure about a heart murmur. HCG does not speed up the heart like a typical diet product, it’s a lot safer.

I am taking oral HCG drops, What do you recommend for constipation? Does HCG build up in your liver and cause pain?

lety

Reply

Deborah

Well chances are you are NOT constipated. You are eating a lot less food, so you will pass a lot less food. It’s normal to have a BM only 1-2 times a week. So unless your stomach hurts like you are constipated then you are fine. And no, HCG does not build up in your liver or cause pain.

Try a little food grade mineral oil to cook your meats a chosen veggie…if you have just a small amount it will pass through you and act as a purge and is completely healthy. You can get it in the pharmacy are of any good organic food store. Psylium also works but is kind of a dramatic result.

My boyfriend and I are considering the drops. In 2004 I had 2 severe blood clots under my arms and was told I would never be able to take any type of hormone ever again or I would be risking another clot. The clot was due to me having an extra rib and that rib closed 2 veins while I was sleeping. I have since had the extra rib removed. Do you think I will be risking another clot by taking these drops?

Reply

Deborah

Well the product I used does not cause blood clots. However someone in your situation should always consult a doctor because of your unique condition.

Hi, Been reading your blog. Also, heve read literature provied about HCG diet. Been on diet fro 48 days. Off for 2 weeks and back on for 16 days now. Planning on going the minimum 23 days. Still losing as normal.

ANY experience as to a possible detriment in doing this? Also, what do think would hapen if I get off before the 23 days given this circumstance?

Thank you, Greg

Reply

Deborah

You did 48 days straight? You should only go 40 days without taking a break. So go 40, do maintenance, then you can start another round.

I have never been a fan of it and honestly don’t trust it. But that’s just me. I like a specific oral product that I’ve used. There’s just something about taking HCG up your nose that seems odd.

Is there anything I should be concerned about…or can I take anything for this?
Thanks

Reply

Deborah

Well I have no idea which product you are taking. The one I took I did not have that feeling ever. If I kept it in the fridge though and took it right when it came out of the fridge, it would feel like it was burning, but it was just the coldness on my tongue. So I just keep it at room temperature and it’s no big deal.

My doctor recommended this diet for me because I am at high risk for Diabeties and me and my husband has been trying for a baby for 5 years and have lost two. If i happen to get preganant while i am doing this diet is it going to harm anything?

Reply

Deborah

Well you should hold off on trying to get pregnant and just complete the diet. You will greatly increase your chances of becoming pregnant once you lose the weight, that’s why your doctor recommended it. So just hold off and do the diet, then attempt to get pregnant.

Hello! I wanted to recommend that you add the detox bath to your blog for the rash, cramps, and headache! Baking soda and Epsom salt do wonders for me!

Reply

Deborah

Thanks for the tip. I’ve never had to use anything. A potassium supplement for cramps, a simple headache medication for the first day or so until you are done detoxing and 99% of people are set. But a bath couldn’t hurt : )

Reply

What are the effects on say somebody with diabetes or a slight asthmatic?

Reply

Deborah

Well the diet is very beneficial to diabetics because they find the diet regulates their blood sugar better and in most cases they can reduce the amount of insulin, and if they do really well they might be able to get off insulin all together. It’s amazing what losing weight will do for your health. And asthma I wouldn’t see any reason why it would interfere because it doesn’t effect your breathing. I’d imagine losing weight would help with that as well though.

Mrs. Deborah your blog has been so aspiring! I am a 21 year old and I bought the HGC drops a month ago but was trying to figure out how to incorporate them to my daily life style. Basically I have all the time in the world to start on my new life. I am on day 4 of my diet and honestly I really like the fact that for the past couple of mornings when I go to the bathroom and then hop on the scale I’m literally a pound or oz. Lower than when I was the other day. I have lost a total of 4-5 lbs. The only problem is I am a bit weak and a headache or 2 have occurred. I also want to know is there something weird with my scale bc after the initial reading of my weight , the numbers go up and then the next day its dropped. What is going on?

Reply

Deborah

Sounds like you are doing well. Headaches and even weakness is normal the first few days as you are detoxing. Make sure you are getting all that water in. And if you question your scale then test a new one. Weigh yourself only once a day in the morning. If you weigh throughout the day you will get different readings as you eat and digest.

Jodi

I am doing diet perfect and on day 6 including the loading days. I am taking bio-identical hormones. I seem to be not loosing as quickly. More like 1/2 pound per day. When does the pound a day happen or is it my hormones I am taking. My doctor said it was fine to keep taking them. I just want to see a little more progress.

Reply

Deborah

Everyone loses differently. You should be happy with .5 per day because ever major diet is less than .28 lost per day, so you are losing twice as fast as any major diet out there. Be happy with your progress and just keep going.

what happens if you let the hgc liquid injection get warm and u still inject it? will it cause a problem? can it cause lightheadedness?

Reply

Deborah

Injections are a different beast and must be kept cold. If it was warm for too long it probably isn’t good. The drops are different, you should still keep them cool but it’s not as important as the injections.

I’m on round two of HCG, this diet works! I lost 35 lbs in 18 days on round one and now I’m on round two. So far I’ve been on for 12 days and lost 20 lbs on round two. I’ve experienced no side effects, however I drink lots of water and allow myself the rest required. During the 3 week period that I was not on HCG, I only gain 2 lbs, but that was most likely water weight. I recommend this diet for anyone who is serious about losing weight and keeping it off. Just Remember, be smart once you are off.

Reply

Deborah

Great job Matt, you are doing wonderful. And good point about being smart when you are off. Everyone needs to realize that maintenance phase is just as important as well as making smarter choices once off the diet.

Reply

Sarah

I did the hcg diet, lost 25 pounds started lookin good and feelin great!! But when I stopped doing them, I gained 20 pounds back :(.

Reply

Deborah

Sounds like you didn’t do the maintenance phase. You can’t skip maintenance phase, it’s very important. This is why I recommend going with a provider that has good coaching because they will help with all of it and you won’t gain it back. Plus it sounds like you went back to old habits. If you go back to old habits you’ll get your old results again. It’s not hard to keep off but you have to be smart about it. That’s true about ANY diet or weight loss program. Learn the lesson and then lose it again. Get the help you need so you keep it off.

Reply

Brenda

Yes Deborah!! you are absolutely right about that I just posted above about what I did. NEVER again. I’m using my head this time and I have never felt so great with body and the weight loss after HCG.. everyone needs to at least try it once and see the results you will never do another diet ever again :) GO FOR IT!!!!

Reply

Are you counting calories? If so that’s your problem. Get help with who you are working with, there’s something you need to change. I don’t have enough of your info to see what it is. Are you drinking all your water, 64+ ounces? There’s a lot of things to fix what you are going through. Most people have more energy than they know what to do with so you just need to make some adjustments.

I am on the HCG diet. They are recommending when I finish my 43 days and have stopped the drops, to do a HCGDetox program for 3 weeks. My concern is that I do not have a colon and am afraid to do this. Since this is supposedly not a “cleansing” can I do it or should I stay away from it?

Reply

Deborah

No, don’t do that. They are just trying to get you to buy another product. You have already detoxed because of all the water you’ve been drinking. No extra detox or products are needed. Just make sure to do the maintenance phase and you’ll be fine.

Reply

Jamie

I am taking the injections but have got a bad cold, need to get a shot. Is it ok to get a shot?

Reply

That’s a great question. What kind of shot? Talk with who you are working with and they should be able to tell you about the product you are using and if it would have any issues. I always say get better first then worry about the diet.

how much can i cheat during the HCG diet? Sometimes I crave sweets and carbs and take a bite from here and a bite from there, does that affect my diet a lot.

Even the little cheats will cause big issues and stalls. the diet is only for a few short weeks, you can do it. You will do WAY better if you just stick to the plan. Get some help with who you are working with and they should be able to help. There are plenty of tricks to make this diet easy.

Depends. Check the label and look for sugar, artificial sweeteners, carbs, etc. There’s a hot sauce I know many use and it’s called Frank’s hot sauce. They say it’s OK but I’ve never used it on any rounds.

Frank’s rocks! After I did the diet, we started using it for everything. And the hot wing recipe in the bottle rocks too. Not that any of us trying to lose weight should eat them. My husband loves them:)

Hi Deborah –

First of all, thank you so much for posting all of this information – it’s so helpful to those of us on the verge of embarking on this journey! It’s motivating to hear (read) about all of the successes that your readers are experiencing.

My story is that I have about 50 lbs to lose, I’d call it my “baby weight” from having my daughter, but she’s almost 7 years old, so I think the statute of limitations may have expired on that! :) Anyway, my question is that I was recently diagnosed with a cyst on my ovary and my doctor is scheduling surgery to have not only the cyst, but the ovary removed, as well. Will HCG cause any additional complications that you know of if I were to start taking it right now before the surgery (scheduled – most likely – for the next three weeks)?

Thanks again and to all of your readers – congratulations!

Reply

Deborah

I laughed at the statute of limitations comment : ) lol. Anyway, you should ask the doc on that one. With the product I used it wouldn’t cause any issues with your ovaries or anything but I’m not sure about having a surgery so soon, plus you’ll be on maintenance and not sure if you will be up to follow maintenance while recovering from surgery. You might want to just wait until you are done with your surgery. That’s probably what I’d do.

Reply

Darlene

Does HGC interfere with botox injections?
